Fighting for Redemption - Part 14

"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

Hebrews 4:12

In order for us to fight for our redemption we need to know the truth of what needs to be redeemed. When our physical heart gets clogged and starts to lose function, we need some form of surgery to restore it to its proper function. For those of us that follow Jesus, spiritual surgery begins with the word of God. Every day we need to allow the living and active word of God to pierce us and remove from us the hard, calloused, artery clogging unredeemed parts that only lead to death.

In my life, even after I discovered Jesus and was born again, there were parts of my character that I didn't even know needed to be redeemed. If I were to have listened to those around me, I would have settled for simply trying to be a better person, and not a redeemed person. It was only after I got serious about reading and studying the word of God that He began showing me areas of my life that I needed to battle against with truth. While it took the help of many people and the power of the Holy Spirit, it was the direction of the word of God that pointed me to truth!

Are you unsure of where to begin your fight for redemption? Set aside time with the word of God and let it reveal the truth about you, to you.

Father, we know that Your word is truth. Only by Your truth can anything be redeemed. Open our eyes and spirit to Your word and reveal what needs to be redeemed within us. We trust You to finish the great work in us that You have begun.
